Today we had a small lab-session of our fracture mechanics course.

Shuta Aoshima visiting us from Tokyo University

Today we had a visit from Shuta Aoshima from the University of Tokyo. He gave us a presentation on the work he is doing for his MSc-thesis on Cement-based Triboelectric Nanogenerators under supervison of Professors Tetsuya ISHIDA and Motohiro OHNO. Very inspiring talk and interesting topic which lead to quite some questions and discussion.

Visit to Weber-Beamix

Yesterday we (Barbara Lubelli, Rauf and myself) visited Weber-Beamix to discuss some projects and see the 3D-printing facilities. It was good to meet Claudia Romero again and learn what material development they do at the company.

Visiting COVRA

Yesterday we (Anne-Catherine, Mladena and myself) visited COVRA, the location where the Netherlands stores all the nuclear waste. At the moment most of the waste is stored in the orange building, above ground in concrete containers. We were there to discuss a research project for storing the waste deep under ground in tunnels with concrete liners in dense clay layers.
