Yanchen He defends MSc-thesis

Yesterday Yanchen He defended her MSc-thesis on "Testing and Modelling of the Mechanical Properties of Fibre-matrix Interfacial Transition Zone". She was supervised by Shan, Mladena and myself. She is the first MSc-student that graduates from the new MSc-track on Construction Materials that we started two years ago. Congratulations Yanchen and good luck with your future career.

JSPS-NWO Joint Seminar

This week we had a JSPS-NWO joint seminar on "Resilient building and civil infrastructure resistant to extremely severe natural disasters". We visited different locations affected by the 2011 earth quake and tsunami in Japan. 7 Dutch representatives from Delft University and industry and 12 Japanese colleagues traveled together to these disaster spots and inspected the areas and listened to story's from local experts and survivors on what happened.

This week I attended the 9th International Conference on Self-Healing Materials in Madrid. After attending the 8th previous versions of this conference I also had to be here. Presented our work on Self-Healng SHCC for our tram-project at the TU-Delft Campus. Was part of a plenary forum discussion on standardization of test methods for self-healing. Furthermore chaired a session on self-healing concrete. It was a very well organised event. Looking forward to the next one in 2026 at Drexel University, USA.
